Charity concert for the ethno music competition

On 5th of March in Budapest a charity concert for ’Szólj, síp, szólj!’ ethno music competition will be held. It is organized by the Eudoxia 20 Foundation at the Civics’ House (Polgárok Háza). This is organized for the second time. The first one was organized in last October. Then Tünde Ivánovich, Géza Fábrik, Dániel Lipták as well as the students of Kamilla Dévai Nagy participated.

15th March: many events in Vojvodina

To commemorate the 162. anniversary of the 1848/1849 revolution and freedom fight, there will be many events held in Vojvodina. For example in Horgos a Saint Steven will be commenced. In Senta there will be wreath laying at the memorial of the heros of the war. In Subotica the leader of the Allience of Ethnic Hungarians will speak to the public. In almost all towns, where ethnic Hungarians live, will be a short programs with poems and songs.

Second degree decision was made in the Jozsef Kasza appeal

On the 8th of March the Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians of Vojvodina (VMSZ) rejected the appeal of Jozsef Kasza against his repulsion from the party. With this second degree decision the judgment has become final and Joseph Kasza was excluded from the Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians of Vojvodina and his title as the honorary chairman was also stripped.
With this second degree decision the pronouncement made on the VMSZ’s February meeting become legally binding.

The case of Goran Knezevic is under reconsideration

On Tuesday was the first day of Goran Knezevic’s lawsuit. Knezevic was the former mayor of Zrenjanin. His and his group’s case was already investigated in front of the judges. At this time the whole judicial process was started over, due to the change of the members in the judicial council. On the first day of the newly examined hearing six witnesses were questioned.
Goran Knezevic and the other 22 defendants are accused of participating in a criminal organization and they suspected to abuse their official positions, and they are also thought to accept bribes during their mandate.
The former mayor has already spent 13 months in imprisonment last year, and he was released on the 4th of November.
At the beginning of the hearing Goran Knezevic rejected the accusations against him, and stated that politically motivated trial is taking place against him.

The Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina and the Democratic Party had a successful meeting

The meeting of the Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina and the Democratic Party was successful and the two parties will continue their strategic cooperation, agreed the two party leader, Istvan Pasztor and Boris Tadic, on their Monday meeting. The two leaders also agreed that in the feature their parties will try to settle their disagreements by using communication and dialogue – one can read this in the official statement which was published after the meeting. The meeting closed with a pact, that the two parties will continue their traditionally good cooperation, especially in order to achieve the European integration.

The Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina and the Democratic Party may continue their cooperation

Istvan Pasztor, the president of Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina (VMSZ) met with Boris Tadic the president of the Democratic Party (DS). According to the Blic daily newspaper, President Boris Tadic was the initiator of this meeting because he wanted to have a conversation with the president of VMSZ, where Pasztor can clarify the misunderstandings between the two parties which caused the impairment of their parties’ cooperation at the end of last year.
Pasztor not only confirmed the news of the meeting, but he added, his party agreed to open negotiations to stabilize the decades long cooperation between the two parties. The cooperation was interrupted because the delegate of the Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina (VMSZ) voted against the budget proposals. The delegate did this because they thought that it was unadmittable how the Parliament treated the question of the lesion of the Large Investment Fund of Vojvodina.

The Pancevo Transportation Company gets seven buses

The transport company of Pancevo will get seven used buses from the Geneva Public Urban Transport Company, announced Slavko Pericin, the director of the Pancevo company The company's delegation has already left to Geneva to discuss the details of the donation. The Mercedes buses are sixteen to eighteen years old.
“The gifts mean a lot to the company despite the fact that the buses are as old, as ours." -said the director. Indeed, it will be a great help to overcome the company’s difficulties in these harsh years, he continued.
It is the second time in the past three years that the Pancevo Company got buses from the Geneva Public Urban Transport Company.

Foreign shareholders in Vojvodina

Foreign shareholders invested five billion euros in Vojvodina, there are approximately 68 thousand employees in Serbia who is working for foreign employers, said Bojan Pajtic, the President of the Vojvodina. Bojan Pajtic said on the meeting held for the foreign investors that the provincial government aims to restore a high investment levels such as it was 2 years ago. He continued that another aim is to redouble the influx of foreign capital in Vojvodina’s economy.
Pajtic said that despite the economic crisis the number of unemployed people in Vojvodina also reduced. He added that the province will continue its work to achieve its’ goals.

Laszlo Solyom will meet with Boris Tadic

Laszlo Solyom, the President of Hungarian, and Boris Tadic, the President of Serbian will meet on March 14th, in Novi Sad – confirmed the Tanjug news agency on Thursday.
It was Istvan Pasztor, the President of the Alliance of Ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina (VMSZ), who invited the Hungarian Head of the State to visit Vojvodina.
Laszlo Solyom will arrive on the 12th of March and he will spend two and a half-days in Vojvodina. During his stay he will meet with Bojan Pajtic, who is the Governor of Vojvodina Provincial, and with Sandor Egeresi, the President of Provincial Parliament, in Novi Sad.
Solyom will visit Tiszakalmanfalva, and villages in Banat including Nagybecskerek, Erzsebetlak, Szentmihaly and Muzslya. These are villages where a significant number of Hungarian population lives.
Laszlo Solyom will meet with Boris Tadic on 14th of March, in Novi Sad, then he will visit Sombor and Bajmokba and in the evening Solyom will participate in Vojvodina’s central March 15th ceremony in Subotica.

Laszlo Solyom will reveal Saint Steven’s statue

The Village Council of Horgos finalized the ceremony program of its’ annual celebration. This year it will be a special celebration, because the town will get a new statue at the village center. The statue of Saint Steven will be revealed by Dr. Laszlo Solyom, the President of the Republic of Hungary at noon on March the 12th. The statue is the work of Martin Simor.
