There are 254 thousand ethnic Hungarians in Serbia

According to the latest census there are 254 thousand ethnic Hungarians in Serbia, which is forty thousand less than ten years ago. More precisely, the population of ethnic Hungarians in Serbia decreased by 39,400 inhabitants. On Thursday the Republican Statistical Office has published the official results of the 2011 census on their website according to which Serbia (without Kosovo) has a population of 7,182,862. This means that the total Serbian population has decreased by 4.15 percent compared to the 2002 data. The 83.32 per cent of the total population is Serbian origin, followed by the ethnic Hungarians, 3.53 percent, the Roma 2.05, the Bosnians 2.02, the Croats 0.81, and an additional 160,346 people did not want to comment on their national affiliation.
