Annual programs of the local public companies and the local strategy for employment were main topics on the agenda at the Thursday session of the town council in Subotica. The session lasted for almost eight hours and councillors did not accept two annual programs: the annual plan of the Palic-Ludas public company and the narrative report of the Youth Office for the last year.
Program of the Palic-Ludas was criticized by the VMSZ and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) - both from the governing coalition. Tímea Horváth, representative of the VMSZ said that the VMSZ-faction cannot approve the program, while Ilija Maravic, head of the town council and member of the SNS mentioned the case when the Palic-Ludas company took away someone’s canecutter machine. According to Maravic, this happened to a citizen who is cutting cane for years, this way protecting the environment, and the party cannot support the annual plan.
József Huzsvár, head of the MM-faction said that if the program will not be accepted, the environment protection project will be thrown back, although the German KfW institute assured the government in Subotica that they would provide financial support of 6,5 million EUR, however, without financial means the public company cannot keep its functioning more dynamic.
Janő Maglai said that the program has fallen into a trap of political games and he said this was not correct behaviour towards the public company.
In the end, program of the Palic-Ludas was not accepted, since only the MM supported it from the governing coalition, the VMSZ and the SNS did not vote for it.
Program of the Youth Office was not accepted, either, since there was no financial report about last year activities.
Other programs and plans of other public companies have been accepted, while the town council accepted the strategy for employment, according to which the town will assure 6 million dinars for employing people with special needs and there will be ten million dinars for public work programs.
