Hajnal: Last Year the MNT Focused on Content Development

At the session of the Hungarian National Council (MNT) councellors discussed and voted about new members of directorial board of two media institutions, the Magyar Szó and the Hét Nap Ltd. Opposition within the MNT have warned and called upon councellors not to vote on new members of the directorial boards.

Lívia Joó Horti and Ferenc Zsoldos from the opposition told that Károly Pál and Újhelyi Lukács are persons whose election predicts a large pressure on journalists and in the case of the Hét Nap, they plan to change the editor-in-chief.

However, the MNT decided upon the question and named these two to the above mentioned positions: Lukács Újhelyi has become head pf the directorial board of the Magyar Szó Ltd., while Károly Pál has become a member of the directorial board of the Hét Nap Ltd.

Anikó Jerasz, head of the Executive Board of the MNT presented the Council’s closing bill for the last year and the financial plan for 2016. Last year’s budget of the MNT was 674.551.522,50 dinars.

After 2016 year's budget was approved, Human and Minority Rights Office decided upon means that are going to be transferred from the Serbian budget to the MNT. According to this, 2016 budget of the MNT had to be modified a bit – explained Jerasz.

Last year accent was on content development in the MNT – said Jenő Hajnal, who also pointed out that they plan to build out 13 specialized school centers which will provide high-level education for Hungarian students in different spheres of life: agriculture, politechnics, tourism, economy, architecture, etc.
