MM will go for elections this spring – this was decided on the II. General Assembly of the Movement.
Lívia Joó Horti said that after discussing the issue, the MM members reached a consensus, namely that they will take part at the elections and members of the civil organization empower members of the interim managing board that they do every necessary steps for taking part at the elections.
Péter Kókai, co-president of the organization said that there is much discontent within the Hungarian community in Vojvodina, but there is a willingness to change things, as well, and this contributed to the decision to take part at the elections.
The decision practically means that the Hungarian Movement will go for elections at every level, and will represent a political alternative at all levels of government: local, provincial and state level – explained Tamás Korhecz, one of the co-presidents of the MM. He further stated that according to their perception, there are many people within the Hungarian community in Vojvodina, who are discontent with current political representation of Hungarians in Serbia and want another political alternative for themselves.
