On Saturday Mirko Galonja, the Public Water Company’s chairmen-- who is responsible for the country’s flood protection, has announced the although the weather is getting warmer and the snow melts the Danube River is not in danger of flooding. Galonja said that even though the river is covered by ice the city of Novi Sad is not in danger and there will be no flood.
” During the last couple of days Hungarian icebreakers have ensured the protection from icy- flood, but because the danger is over, the ice-breakers returned to Hungary “- said Galonja.
According to the experts the ice on the Danube is no longer so solid, and it decreased with 10 15 percent in the last two days.
